Em passagem pelo Brasil, a dupla M.A.N.D.Y respondeu algumas perguntas para o Molotov21. Na entrevista exclusiva eles falaram sobre parceria com Matthew Dear, a saida de DJ T. e Booka Shade da Get Physical e muito mais!
Vocês já são conhecidos frequentadores do Brasil. O que gostam mais no nosso país? Teve alguma gig que se lembrem em especial?
Tem tanta coisa para se amar no Brasil, as pessoas no geral são tão receptivas e amigáveis, muita comida boa e diversidade quando se viaja de norte a sul no país, e vocês sabem festejar muito bem!
Eu me lembro que depois de uma gig nós fomos perseguidos por um grupo de fãs e tivemos que falar para o taxista despistar as meninas, pareceu uma real cena do seriado Starsky & Hutch, mas no fim deu tudo certo, conseguimos escapar…
Como vocês veem a cena brasileira de música eletronica comparada a alemã?
Com certeza Berlin é considerada a capital mundial da música eletronica no momento, a variedade de clubs e lugares para festas é colossal. Mas o Brasil tem muitos produtores e DJs talentosos e clubs como Garage e D-edge aonde a música underground impera. Então não tem muito mistério, vocês estão destruindo!
A Get Physical vem lançando alguns dos melhores tunes em termos de house music. Vocês podem nos contar resumidamente como foi a estrada para chegar a esse patamar?
Esse ano com a saida do DJ T. e Booka Shade nós tivemos que praticamente reconstruir a gravadora inteira, mas tudo numa boa, continuamos amigos e fazendo projetos juntos. Mas tivemos que reestruturar tudo e agora estamos num ótimo caminho mais uma vez. É sempre igual, você tem que achar uma boa música e bons artistas, Não é tão complicado, a Get Physical sempre lançou músicas para clubs que varios DJs tocaram tanto quanto nós mesmos mais alguns hits que podem fazer a diferença durante a noite. Adorariamos achar novos artistas para algum album em 2012, esse é o objetivo.
O que podemos esperar da label em seguida?
Teremos um compilação sublime de velhas e novas disco music feita pelo DJ T. Também teremos a nova Body Language mixada pelos nossos amigos do Noze, estamos gostando bastante dessa também.
A nova full body workout acabou de sair com 8 tracks matadoras e é claro que vamos lançar alguns singles. Um single chamado “Home” que acabamos de fazer com o Booka Shade e uma colaboração com o adultnapper acabou de sair e ainda temos mais 2 singles para sair nesse mesmo projeto.
Pequenos clubs ou festivais gigantes, qual sua preferência?
Gostamos do desafio dos 2. Tocar na frente de 10.000 pessoas te dá uma energia extrema se tudo correr bem. Manter a tensão não é uma coisa fácil mas satisfatório se você conseguir esse objetivo. E sempre tocaremos as gigs menores, foi assim que começamos e temos que ser sensíveis a vibe das pessoas, e geralmente o público é mais aberto, então podemos vasculhar nossa coleção profundamente e apresentar coisas nunca ouvidas antes.
- Vinyl, Cd’s ou Traktor?
Nós tocamos cds, usb e Traktor. Tudo junto.
Sua colaboração com Matthew Dear como M.A.N.D.E.A.R foi uma das coisas mais legais a sair em 2011.Como foi essa experiencia? Vocês tem planos de fazer isso mais alguma vez?
Nós acabamos de fazer nossa noite em um rooftop de Nova Iorque chamado “Buddies”. Como estou vivendo porlá metade do ano, vamos continuar fazendo isso. E tenho certeza que iremos lançar a parte II ano que vem em algum momento.
Matt e eu somos bons amigos e o conceito dessas festas é tocar sets de 4-7 horas, normalmente nunca ultrapassamos os 115bpm.
Para finalizar, quais são os planos para 2012?
Passar muito tempo no estúdio, dessa vez para valer. Nós fizemos muitas turnês nos anos passados, então ficamos em falta com o tempo no estúdio. Estou muito feliz em passar mais tempo fazendo música, ssão tantas idéias que vieram durante as viagens, pessoas e momentos maravilhosos. Então está na hora de produzir músicas relevantes mais uma vez. E claro, cuidar da label e ser um bom dono de gravadora, que se preocupa com seus artistas mas não por último, cuidar de nós mesmos e passar um tempo como nossos amados amigos e familia. Resumindo: muito a fazer sempre!

- You’ve been a regular in Brazil. What do you like most about our country? Was there any special gig you remember?
There’s so much to love about Brazil, the people in general, so welcoming and friendly, so much good food, such a diverse country when you travel in the western part of the country, and you know how to party as well.
I remember after one show, there were some girls that supposivly really liked us and followed us in a car behind and we had to tell the cab driver to really go fast, but it was like in Starsky & Hutch, a proper speeddrive thru the city. we escaped at the end…
- What do you think about our EDM scene compared to the german scene?
Obviously Berlin is considered as the main capital of electronic music at the moment, the variety of clubs and venues is probably unique in the world. But Brazil has very talented producers and DJs and clubs like Garage or d-edge where mainly the underground music is featured. So there’s no need to hide at all. You guys know your shiaat! 
- Get Physical has been releasing some of the best tunes in terms of house music. Can you tell us a little a bit how was the road to get where the label is today?
We pretty much had to rebuild the whole company this year as Booka Shade and DJ T. left the label, all in good terms, we are still friends and doing stuff together. But we had to restructure everything and we are on a very good track at the moment. It’s always the same, you need to find good music and exiciting artists. It’s no rocket science, Get Physical always provided proper club music that a lot of DJs played out as we had and still have some hits that can make a difference during a night. Would love to find more Leftfield artists who can deliver us an interesting album – that is the goal for 2012.
- What can we expect next from the label?
There’s a sublime disco compilation from DJ T. coming soon, a fine selection of old and new disco tracks. the new Body Language compliation is mixed by our friends from Noze, really like that one.
The new full body workout is just released with 8 dancefloor killers and obviously some singles that are lined up too. A new single we did with Booka Shade called ‘Home’ and a collaboration with adultnapper is just released and there’s two more singles coming out of this.
- Small Clubs or big festivals, which suits you better?
We like the challange of the two. To play in front of 10000 people gives you an extreme energy kick if everything goes well. To keep the tension is not so easy, but most satisfying if you achieve that goal. And I will always play the small gigs. It’s just where we all started and you have to be very sensitive about the vibe and people are normally more connaisseurs, so it’s nice that you can dig deep in your collection and present new unheard stuff.
- What’s your preference when playing live? Vinyl, Cd’s, Traktor?
We play CD, usb and Traktor. all together.
- Your collaboration with Matthew Dear as M.A.N.D.E.A.R was one of the hottest things coming out on 2011. How was that experience? Do you have plans to do it more often?
We just had our night at the standard rooftop in New York City called “Buddies”. As I’m living there half of the time we will continue with it. And I’m sure we’ll release part II next year at some point.
Matt and I are good friends and the concept of these parties is to play between 4-7 hours and normally we don’t play faster than 115bpm.
- To finish, tell us what are your plans for 2012?
To spend much more time in the studio, this time for real. We just toured so much the past years, so we neglected the studio way too much. Really happy to spend more time in the studio again, so many ideas from all the travels, people and wonderful moments. So it’s bout time to release a couple of really strong songs again. And of course take care of the label and be a good labelhead that cares about his artists and last, but not least, take care of ourselves and spend some time with our beloved friends and family. lots to do. always!
